... Perhaps, a Cinderella will appear in Da Lat, at giant pumpkin garden and black tomato ...
Last week, during visiting Dalat city, some my old friends took me to a "strange garden" located at 50 Ho Xuan Huong Street (route Than Tho Lake). This is a garden with "strange" varieties being tested by Mr. Le Huu Phan's family (Ticket costs10.000 VND / person)
Children enjoy "taking photos" with giant pumpkins
When we arrive, there are quite a lot of tourists come here to be able to "witness" "giant" pumpkins and black tomatoes garden which was mentioned on many newspapers during those days. The reason is called giant pumpkin because their weight can be up to 70 - 80 kg/pumpkin. Mr.Phan explained that "I bought pumpkin varieties grown in America weigh 1 ton and a half, but with my first trial is the largest pumpkin weighing more than 1 quintal. Other pumpkins only weigh from 40-80kg /pumpkin "
Now, pumpkin garden has about 10 large pumpkins (over 40kg)
When we has arrived, Mr.Phan is happy to welcome and dedicates to guide us about his garden. He said " to plant these pumpkin seeds require a very complex care process. For example, before planting, he must prepare compost and muck brooding underground before nursery. Farmland must be dug about 4 - 5 square meter because this type of pumpkin grow quickly, need enough nutrients feed the plant. In the process of planting, he must water, fertilize plants in accordance with the needs that plants need, overwatering the pumpkins will be rotten. He was careful to use the thin sponge underneath pumpkins to prevent pests.
Besides red pumpkins, white pumpkins has also grown at the garden
I have heard that people living around it, they had ever been invited to try gaint pumpkins which he planted by Mr.Phan. Most people evaluate this delicious, fragrant, sweet, and big pumpkins, we just cut several branches of pumpkin will have a plate of fried pumpkin.
Looking giant pumpkins, I imagined the story of "Cinderella". Perhaps, a true Cinderella will appear in Da Lat, at giant pumpkin and black tomatoes garden.
Going inside, we discover this garden also planted many trees "unique, strange" that I have never seen as red beets, mini tomatoes, mini cucumbers, Rosemary (used as a spice, very fragrant) ... among them, we must mention to black tomatoes.
Red beets and black tomatoes sold at the garden
Black tomatoes are tomatoes with black skin, red flesh which are grown on high beds, and kept not to broken, fallen by trees. Many visitors take photos here carefully avoid collisions, making branches broken because tomatoes are being harvested in the crop. This variety of tomato is very difficult to grow too, many families have also tested but until now, the most successful gardens are the garden of Mr.Phan and Ms Phan Thuy's garden (Duc Trong District, Lam Dong Province).
Walking around the garden, watching the leaves are trembling themselves, I do not know that the next time visit Dalat city, how the leaves will be tall.
To go home early, my friends invited everyone to eat cheese yoghurt at Tau Pagoda (quite famous). On our way back, we met a group of other tourists asking the way to the famous hanging persimmon garden in Dalat because it is near here, so we decided to follow them.
Smooth yoghurt, fatty, not tired of eating
The path is quite steep, zigzag road, driving through many small alley to come Le Van's the hanging persimmons garden. A girl who is 15 - 16 years old and pretty welcomes us. Little girl is shy to report that her hanging persimmons garden doesn't allow travelers to visit here because in the recent years, the number of tourists touching persimmons so much make them "rotten", we can only look in the hanging presimmon garden from the outside.
The hanging persimmons at Le Van's facility (Khe Sanh)
The varieties of hanging persimmons are made of Japanese technology, not using any medication. The girl told " First, we must peel persimmon (keep stalks), after soaking them with lemon juice and salt (for less tart), then we take the stalks tie with nylon cord or trellis with hook to avoid sunlight, rain, dust and make persimmons dry naturally. After drying persimmons about one month, we can eat them.
Presimmons are very delicious
She was enthusiastic for us try dried finished persimmons with sweetness, natural flavor, especially soft and flexible. I offered to buy some persimmons as gifts, then again, she was embarrassed to say that her persimmon garden are prepared to provide a large quantity of other provinces to come up with Tet holiday, so if I want to buy, she would give me her phone number, when there is a new persimmon harvest she will call me to order.
Persimmons were put into the dryer and vacuum molding on the spot.
After an afternoon, I wander in Dalat under cold sunshine, sometimes with a few drops of rain fluttered that makes me feel love the peaceful atmosphere of this land more.
